Lelia McDugal, age 92, of Gholson, passed away Friday afternoon, Setpember 9, 2016 at her residence in Gholson.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Jimmy Sansom officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lelia was born May 28, 1924 in Gholson, the daughter of Arch and Bly (Cooper) Walker. She attended schools in Gholson and was a 1942 graduate of West High School. On October 5, 1946 she was united in marriage to Hollis McDugal in Waco. Hollis preceded her in death on December 20, 1985. Lelia was a homemaker, Mother, and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a very active and faithful member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson. She was also a member of the McLennan County Historical Society, Gholson Cemetery Association, 4-H Club, was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and was president of the 36th Division 143rd Military Infantry Ladies Auxiliary. Lelia volunteer her time leading Bible study at the Brookhaven Boys Ranch. She wrote several books, loved history and was instrumental in getting historical markers for the Gholson Cemetery, Wesley Chapel Church and Rogers Hill Trestel Bridge. Lelia also enjoyed oil painting and teaching at Vacation Bible School each year. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Lelia is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Molly Adair; a son, Archie McDugal III; a brother, Arch Walker Jr.; and sisters, Dorothy Roller and Frances Hanson.

Survivors include a son, Mark McDugal; a son-in-law, Ricky Adair; grandchildren, Adam McDugal and wife Tami, Melissa Sulak and husband Eddie, Tim Adair and Janie Adair; great grandchildren, Alex Adair, Marsha Ellis, Hannah Bartosh, Abbie McAdams, McKenzi McDugal and Hagen Hollis McDugal; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Adam McDugal, Tim Adair, Eddie Sulak, Josh Baggett, Aaron Haskins and Larry Erwin.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, Gloria.
