POPULAR FARMER OF SHELBY TOWNSHIP DIED

MARTIN HEY PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY TUESDAY EVENING AFTER ILLNESS OF SEVERAL MONTHS

Following an illness of five months from a complication of diseases, Martin Hey, one of the well known young farmers of Shelby county, died at his home in Shelby township, Tuesday night at 9:30 o'clock. His death was sudden, as his condition was about as usual thru out the day Tuesday. His death is a very great shock to his family and friends.
Mr. Hey was born May 12, 1884, and at his death was aged thirty-five years and three months. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hey, of Shelby township, and all his life had been lived in that community. His marriage to Miss Louise Adams occurred Feb. 19, 1911. Four children, Gilbert, VIrginia, Ida and Frances, were born to them and survive with the widow; he also leaves his parents, four brothers and three sisters, the brothers being Elmer, Cyreus, Henry and Isaac, and the sisters, Mrs. Mary Beal, Mrs. Margaret Inman and Mrs. Mattie Gray.
To all the community Mr. Hey was very well known and was loved by his comrades for his straight forwardness and progress. He was an industrious farmer and a good man in all his dealings. He was a member of the Evangelical church of this city, which he joined when a boy of twelve years.
The funeral will be held from the Evangelical church in this city Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. S. S. Caldemeyer, the pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery, Hendrickson & Sleeth, undertakers will be in charge. (Obit: Shelbyville News, Aug. 14, 1919}
