WIDELY KNOWN RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES AT HOME NEAR CITY, AT AGE OF 77

FUNERAL SERVICE MONDAY

Daniel Hey Sr., age 77 years, widely known resident of Shelby county died at his home one and one-half miles south of the city on the Columbus pike at 8:45 o'clock this morning after a long illness. Mr. Hey had been a farmer in this county for many years, retiring in 1917.
He was born on August 2, 1855 in Hamilton county, Ohio, the son of Peter and Katherine Hey, natives of Germany. On March 6, 1879 he was married to Samantha Schutt, and of the eight children born to the couple, seven survive. A son, Martin, died on August 12, 1919.
Besides the widow, the children surviving are: Mrs. Ed Inman, of this city; Mrs. Hamilton Gray, Henry, Isaac, Cyrenus W., Elmer E., and Mrs. Mary Beall, all of this county. The deceased also leaves twenty-one grandchildren; one brother, John Hey, Sr., of this county; and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Burd, of Manilla.
Mr. Hey was a member of the First Evangelical Church of this city. He was held in high esteem.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the church, of which he was a member with the Rev. Theodore Schultz, of that church, and the Rev. Paul E. Milton, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing. (Obit: Shelbyville News, Nov. 5, 1932)
