Ernest F. Anderson of the Cottage Home community died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at Brookdale Historic Roswell in Roswell, GA. Mr. Anderson was born in Liberty, TN, son of the late S. Turney and Winnie Lee Keaton Anderson and was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline H. Anderson who passed away on February 9th of this year and his brother, Murrel T. Anderson, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Mayfield and her husband, Donnie of Marietta, GA; son, Jack Anderson and his wife, Jo Ann of North Richland Hills, TX; four grandchildren, Brandon Anderson and his wife, Cortny and their daughter, Darby of Bedford, TX, Dana Wood and husband, John of Atlanta, GA, Samantha Anderson of New York City and Paul Mayfield of Marietta, GA. Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Thurman Seber officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be at Prosperity Cemetery.∼Ernest F. Anderson, 85, of the Cottage Home community in Liberty, Tennessee, formerly of Urbana, Illinois, died on Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2016) at Brookdale Roswell Historic, Roswell, Georgia.

Mr. Anderson was born in Liberty, son of the late Spirah Turney Anderson and Winnie Lee Keaton Anderson and was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Hill Anderson who passed away Feb. 9 and his brother, Murrel T. Anderson Sr.

He graduated from Liberty High School, attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a bachelor's degree in 1953 and a master's degree in 1956.

Ernest served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps from 1953-55. Following his military service, he taught vocational agriculture in Allendale, Illinois from 1956-59, served as superintendent of Allendale School from 1960-61), Dean Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois from 1961-63 and received his doctorate of education at the University of Illinois in 1966. During his time at the University of Illinois from 1963-66, Ernest was a professor of higher education and community college coordinator. After his retirement in 1988, Ernest and his wife, Jacqueline, lived on their century farm in Cottage Home in east Wilson County. He served on the Wilson County Farm Bureau board of directors for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Frances Mayfield and her husband, Donnie; son, Jack Anderson and his wife, Jo Ann and four grandchildren.
