Eva Linney, daughter of Thomas and Eva S. (Ogden) Linney, was born on October 14, 1918, in Baskin, LA. She grew up there and graduated from high school in 1936. She attended NE Jr. College in Monroe, LA, and graduated with an Associate’s Degree. Eva enlisted with the United States Army Air Corps on November 1, 1942, and was stationed at the Barksdale Field Airbase, where she met Donald Olsen. She worked as a Radar Instructor until being honorably discharged on November 5, 1945, as Staff Sergeant.

Eva was united in marriage with Donald Olsen on November 14, 1945, in Shreveport, LA. After Donald was honorably discharged the couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Eva travelled with Donald with his work as a salesman until staying at home to raise a family. Once the children were out of the house, Eva worked selling insurance and as a beautician out of their home.

Faith was an important part of Eva’s life. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church circles and taught 2nd grade Sunday School for many years. She excelled at cooking and spent time enjoying Mah Jongg and Bridge. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress. She also took great pleasure in redecorating rooms. A loving homemaker, Eva was known for her exceptional cooking. Especially her pheasant gumbo. Proper yet outgoing, Eva was known for her giggle.
