He lived on the Old Preston Road--about a third of a mile to the north of Colin Grove--where he operated a well-known tannery and had a large family. Some records indicate 16 children, nine were; Joanna, Edward King, John Jr, Sally, Mary Stayner, A Richard, Capt James, Augusta Maria.
He died in Dartmouth in 1849. It is unknown where he is buried.
