James Harvey Windham, Sr., 82, is a son of the late James McDowell and Louise Troublefield Windham. He served as Deputy State Treasurer for the State of South Carolina until his retirement in 1985. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and was a member of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Jim was awarded The Order of the Palmetto from S.C. Governor Richard W. Riley in 1985. He was a South Carolina Master Gardener and a member of the Watercolor Association of SC, Jim was also a member of the Sherwood Forest Associate Reform Presbyterian Church, having served as Deacon, Elder and Treasurer. In World War II he served with the 100th "Century" Division of the 399th Infantry and went in with the second wave of soldiers who liberated the Dachau concentration camp. He was one of the best of the "Greatest Generation," a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he will be missed.
