Patrolman Elvin E. Walk, DSN 2380, received his commission on 03/27/1939. Upon competition of the academy he served in the 12th district. Officer Walk resigned his commission on 09/01/1942 to join the United States Navy during World War II. Officer Walk remained on active duty and was honorable discharged in January 1947. Officer Walk returned to his previous assignment in the the 12 district and remained there for the rest of his career. Officer Walk served a total of 21 years of faithful and dedicated service to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Officer Walk was under the care of a physician and died of a heart ailment at his home at 4333(A) Lafayette Avenue. St. Louis, Missouri. He had been receiving doctor’s care for heart disease since 1952.

Patrolman Walk served with his 2 brothers on the Saint Louis Police Department. They were Sergeant Chester E. Walk, DSN 2379, and Officer Harry F. Walk, DSN 2381.

Surviving at the time of his death are his wife, Mrs. Irene Walk, three children: Curtis, Eugene and Marguerite Walk - all of the home.
