The son of William & Mary Ann (Porch - Rachel Phillips Steward also reported) Shuster, he married Abigail Simpkins October 12, 1845, in Philadelphia and fathered William Weyman (b. 10/16/46), James Laurence (b. 06/01/49), Christiann Abigail (b. 1852, d. 1860), Mary Elizabeth (b. 03/25/55), Ella & Franklin Bruce (b./d. 1858). His whereabouts in 1860 remain a mystery, but he was either living in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, or close by. March 3 is also reported as his birthday.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Cheltenham, Montgomery County, August 6, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 11 as a private with Co. C, 130th Pennsylvania Infantry, and promoted to corporal, date as yet unknown. He was wounded during the battle of Antietam and died from the effects of those wounds in the military hospital at Frederick, Maryland.
