A native of Washington, Ga, he lived in Brunson for the past 26 years. He was a member of the Brunson United Methodist church, where he served as a steward for a number of years. He was a member of the board of trustees of the Brunson schools.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs Henrietta Combs Newsome; two sons, Robert Boyce Newsome, Jr of Hastings, Fla, and W E Newsome of Greenwood, Fal; four daughters, Miss Lillian Newsome of Augusta, Ga, Miss Evelyn Newsome of Ma[?], Fla, Mrs L L Peeples of Allendale, and Miss Ann Newsome of Brunson; three brothers, T M Newsome of Augusta, P H Newsome of Washington, W H Newsome of Covington, Ga; five sisters, Mrs F F Patterson, Mrs R S Harper, Sr, Mrs J S [?]rrard, and Mrs C L Burdette, all of Washington, Mrs J C Williamson of White Plains, Ga; and two grandchildren.
