A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Harry Mitchell and Blanche Plemmons Morgan and was also preceded in death by a brother, Edison D. Morgan and a sister, Maleta Morgan. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Mr. Morgan was a dairy farmer and a member of the NC Farm Bureau, the Red Angus Association of America and other agricultural organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Gasperson Morgan; sons, Martin Morgan and Gardner Morgan of Leicester; daughters, Marcia Morehead and husband Rick of Asheville and Kathy Morgan of Leicester; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Porter Morgan of Asheville, Don Morgan and Dale Morgan of Leicester.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Lisa Hartzog Hannah officiating.
His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
