Bartlesville, OK resident, Clarice Jean Bailey Wilkins, 84, moved to her heavenly home on August 14, 2016 after struggling with dementia for several years.

Born on November 1st 1931 at her grandparent’s home in Sickles, Oklahoma, Clarice Jean grew up in Britton, Oklahoma where she graduated from High School as Salutatorian. She continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.

While attending OU she met and married Paul E. Wilkins on August 29, 1952. During the first few years of marriage she taught science and physical education while Paul completed his education and served in the military. They moved to Bartlesville in June 1956 to start their professional lives. Jean served in church ministries throughout her 60 years of membership at First United Methodist Church, now Bartlesville First Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women’s Circle group and as a member of the Parlor committee which she decorated for the seasons, and served her church and community through many other organizations throughout her life. She served as president of Mutual Girls Club and chaired on the property and acquisition board. She enjoyed participating as a member of Chapter FT of PEO.

Jean’s professional life included teaching Physical Education at College High School in Bartlesville, serving as a real estate agent with Hopper Realty until she and Kay Sowers started Wilkins-Sowers Realty. Late in her real estate career she managed property as Wilkins and Associates.

Paul and Jean enjoyed many social activities including local and regional square dance clubs, monthly gourmet clubs and travel groups . She was known for her sewing skills and made clothes for herself, friends, children and grandchildren. Hospitality was a great joy to her as she often opened her home to organizations for meetings, fund raisers and as a gathering for friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis S. Bailey, Beulah M. Ward, a step-father George W. Ward, a step-brother Robert W. Ward, and one brother Claire E. Bailey.

She is survived by her husband Paul, of the home, two daughters, Paula Dunlap and her husband Mike of Bartlesville, Jana Wilkins of Bartlesville and a son Doug Wilkins and his wife Kim of West Columbia, Texas. Eight Grandchildren Ryan and Bridget Dunlap, Travis and Sophia Dunlap, Kelsey Dunlap, Jeanne and Sean Helm, Lauren and Tyler Shelton, Brian and Michelle Howell , Taylor Wilkins, Karly Wilkins and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the scholarship fund at the Mutual Girls Club in Bartlesville, OK. P. O. Box 2405, Bartlesville, OK. 74005.

Memorial services: Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Bartlesville First Church, 4715 Price Road, with Rev. Paul Overholt officiating. Memorial services and cremation are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
