L.E. DANSRO IS KILLED
Former Rutland Man Fatally Shot During Altercation in Springfield, Mass.
News that her brother, Leon E. Dansro, 41,an employee of fruit markets in Rutland for many years, was fatally shot Wednesday night during an altercation in a store in Springfield, Mass, where his wife was employed was received yesterday afternoon by his sister, Mrs. Roy C. Bixby of East Clarendon. News of Dansro's slaying was telephoned here by Springfield police. Police Lieut. John A. McNeil, contacted by a Herald reporter, said that William H. Prince, 64, proprietor of Prince's Spa, 2128 Main Street, Springfield, where the tragedy occurred, was held on an open charge of murder and will be arraigned in Springfield District court this morning. (Mr. Prince was acquitted on 30 May 1945.)
Sgt. John Cleary and Inspector Gilmore responding to an emergency call, found Dansro on the floor. He was taken to Mercy hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
He was born in Rutland, March 29, 1904, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dansro, who lived for many years on Howe Street. About four years ago he married Julia Buffum of Plain street. The shooting victim is survived besides his wife and Mrs. Bixby, by two other sisters, Mrs. Marie Taylor and Mrs. George Taylor of Mattituck, L.I., and three brothers, Sgt. Clarence O. Dansro, who was wounded in Italy and is now in Walter Reed hospital in Washington, John B. Dansereau of Philadelphia, Pa. and Oliver Dansro of Florida.
Relatives here said last night that they believed that the burial services would be in Rutland.
Burial was in the family plot in East Clarendon cemetery.
