Ruthie Lee Battle was a resident of Gulfport, MS. She worked for years as a pre-school teacher. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Ms. Ruthie Battle passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006 in Gulfport at the age of 73.

Mrs. Battle is preceded in death by her parents, D. L. and Geneva James, and one son, Shelly James.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Battle of Gulfport, and Linda (Erastus) Thompson of Isola, MS; two sons, Daniel Battle of Gulfport, and Joe Willie Battle of Detroit, MI; two step-daughters, Diare Davidson of Atlanta, GA, and Ruby Williams of Gulfport. She has also left fifteen grand children, and ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be on 11AM Saturday November 25, 2006 at Greater Love Fellowship Baptist Church in Gulfport, where Rev. William Harper is pastor. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Pineridge Cemetery in Gulfport.
