Ella was the second born child of Gustave and Mary Laprath Egge, born on 24 Oct 1908 near Elma, WA which is located in Grays Harbor County, renamed from Chehalis County, the designation at the time. She was named for her Aunt, Ella Nora Laprath. In 1910, census records have the family living in Satsop which is about 3 miles west of Elma. Ten years later the family moved to the Greenlake area of Seattle. In the 1930 census Ella was living with her parents on Corliss Avenue working as a stenographer for the local power company. On 04 Jan 1935, at the age of 26, she married Daniel James Ritchie in Seattle.
They would immediately settle in a small home in West Seattle at 8004 39th Ave SW. In 1940 Dan was working as an Engineer for a fish packing company and Ella was still working for the power company, now listed as a secretary. They would be blessed with two children, Margaret born in 1944 and Danny, Jr. born in 1950.
I remember Ella as a warm person with a ready smile. She and Dan would celebrate 43 years together before he died in 1978. Ella died eleven years later at the age of 80. She was survived by her to children, daughter Margaret Hind (husband John) and Dan, Jr. (wife Jennifer Snyder ); two granddaughters, Megan and Melinda Ritchie, her sister, Ruth Bennett, and her two brothers, Robert and Richard Egge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, parents, Gus and Mary Egge, and her sister Norma Christiansen.
