Alice Marie Bollinger of Union City took her heavenly flight on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband, Thorold, and the many who have gone before her.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home at Highland Baptist Church, El Reno, where she was a charter/lifetime member. Her grandson, Kory Bollinger and Pastor Travis Jones will be officiating the service. Interment will be in the Yukon Cemetery.

Alice, the youngest of eight children, was born Oct. 23, 1920, to Tom and Dora (Mills) Horn in Yukon, just west of Lake Overholser. She graduated from Yukon HS in 1937, stayed at home a year and then received her teaching certificate from Central State Teachers College in Edmond in 1942. Five of those eight children became teachers.

Her first teaching assignment was Johnson School near Shawnee. In 1944, she came to Union City to begin a teaching assignment. In 1946, she married Thorold (TJ) Bollinger between Sunday school and church in El Reno. Together they farmed west of Union City and raised two children, Sandra and Scott. After her children were raised she resumed teaching for 10 more years.

She often commented that her favorite things to do were to rock babies, sing and eat pie, and not necessarily in that order. She loved her children and grandchildren and prayed for them and anyone else who came her way. Special times of fellowship were had with her Gleaners Sunday school class. But her greatest desire was to see lost people saved and Christians serving the Lord. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thorold of 44 years; brother, Ed Horn and wife, Ola; sister, Rosa Mason Black and husbands, Clarence and Shorty; brother, Albert Horn and wife, Loretta; sister, Hazel Dudek and husband, Joe; sister, Billie Elder and husband, John; brother, Stanley Horn; sister, Bessie Hollman and husband, Bill; and great-granddaughter, Jensyn Breshears.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Tatum and husband, Gary of Union City; son, Scott Bollinger and wife, Martha of El Reno; grandchildren, Amber Tatum; Andy Tatum and sons, Easton and Ayden; Kari Breshears, husband, Andy and son, Beau; Kory Bollinger; Karli Ross, husband, Charlie and daughter, Finnleigh; Kayli McKee, husband, Craig and son, Toby; Kami Shackleford, husband, Scott and daughters, Zoey and Emma; Kolby Bollinger; Kynzi Young, husband, Dillon and daughter, Harper; Kyler Bollinger, wife, Haley and daughter, Lily; Kwyn Bollinger, Kade Bollinger and Kolton Bollinger; sister-in-law, Elbie Horn; brother-in-law, John C. Gatz; and a host of special nieces and nephews and friends.

Thank you to all who provided medical care for her these last two weeks.

Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church, El Reno.
