DECATUR -- Jeannette Rose Banning, 98, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jeannette was born April 29, 1918, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Joseph R. and Laura Bell (Ethridge) Yaegel. She was a member of Second Church of God and had worked at the Hi-Flier Kite factory. Jeannette married Vallie Ted Banning June 5, 1937 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death April 20, 1961. Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Robert; three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Sandy) Banning of CA, and Valerian (James) Weddle of Decatur; grandchildren: Valerie Garner, Dawn Leiner, Cinda Greene, Eric Weddle, Brett Banning, Bryan Banning, Blair Banning, and Pamela Banning; great-grandchildren: Bob Garner, Jeremy Garner, Carson Leiner, Justin Greene, Briar Weddle, Kristen Weddle, Dylan Banning, and Sarah Banning; great-great grandchildren: Jakson Garner, Evelynn Garner and Anistyn Garner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services to celebrate Jeannette’s life will be 11 am, Monday, August 22, 2016, in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home; visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial may be made to Second Church of God, Decatur.
