Ross Smith White passed away peacefully at his home in Holladay, Utah on August 14, 2016, a few days after his 86th birthday. He was born in Plano, Idaho August 6, 1930 to Lee Layman and Matilda Ann Smith White. He graduated from Edmunds High School (where he loved to play basketball), and later from Utah State University and University of Utah. He married Eva Lawrence Featherstone March 17, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked as a chemist in the aerospace industry for Hercules Aerospace and Boeing for about 30 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving for many years as financial/records clerk. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and was an active member of the American Legion.
Ross is survived by his children, Sandra Featherstone, Scott Featherstone, Julie (Karl) Ryser, Lisa Peck, Nancy Glover and Debbie (Bill) Morrison; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers, Asa White, Salt Lake City, Utah; Blaine White, Egin, Idaho; Hiram White and Glen White, Riverton, Utah; Arthur White, Rexburg, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Lawrence Featherstone White; parents, Lee Layman and Matilda Ann Smith White; sisters, Doris Wheeler, Edna White, Bonnie Jones; grandson, Landon Peck and great-grandson, Emerson J Cuff.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, 12:00 noon, at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, with viewing/visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to donate to a charity of their choice in the name of Ross S. White.
