Betty Fern Quisenberry, 93, of Centralia passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at the Stuart House Nursing Home.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Prairie Grove Baptist Church. An additional visitation will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Prairie Grove Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.





She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Columbia, the daughter of Samuel Clifton and Lizzie Belle Johnson, who preceded her in death. Betty was united in marriage to Charles Quisenberry, who preceded her in death.

Betty was a graduate of Hickman High School, Class of 1941. She attended the University of Missouri for one year, at which time she worked for the Dean of Education.

She later was manager of Central Missouri Abstract and Title Co. for 30 years. She also served as assistant manager of Boone Central Abstract Company. In 1991, she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Missouri Land Title Association. She was a member of the Altrusa Club, an organization of professional women.

Betty’s great loves were bird watching, her flowers and playing the piano and organ at Prairie Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member for more than 60 years. She attended Bethlehem Church in the years before going to the Stuart House.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Bethel DeSpain, and husband, John; one son, Mark Quisenberry; and one grandson, Joseph Quisenberry, all of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Memorial donations can be made to Prairie Grove Baptist Church, Bethlehem Church or the Stuart House.
