Carl was the only child of Charles Husted More and Lillian Foote More. Soon after his birth, the family relocated to Batavia, Illinois where Charles’ mother died when he was but two years of age. He was raised by his maternal grand-aunt, Mary M. Newton, and his maternal grandmother, Lucy Richards Foote, at Batavia. Charles studied at Allegheny College at Meadville, Pennsylvania and Harvard Architectural School at Boston, Massachusetts. Charles married to Louise Gladys Wagner on 28 June 1916 at Batavia. They made their home at that place where Carl was an automobile dealer. His wife died in 1961 and Carl married next to Maude French on 19 June 1963 at Batavia. Carl had no children.
