DIED AT MEDIAPOLIS
Mrs. William Brumm Passed Away Wednesday Evening

Mrs. William Brumm passed away at her home in Mediapolis Wednesday evening, June 7, 1922. She was born in Benton township, May 29, 1854, and was 68 years and nine days of age at the time of her death.

Helena V. Thomas was the daughter of Mrs. Mary (Walker) Thomas, a pioneer of the Walker settlement in Benton township. She received her education in a log school house on Yellow Spring creek which has long since been razed. Her marriage to William Brumm occurred on April 1, 1873, and to this union of happy hearts was born seven children, two of them and the husband preceding the mother in death. Their entire life was spent in the vicinity of Kingston and Mediapolis. To her the pathway of life has been a shining light, shining more and more unto the perfect day. The prophecy, "At evening tide it shall be light," was fulfilled in the evening of her death.

In the home she was truly a queen of mothers. Home to her was her castle beautiful, and was never happier than on occasions that brought the children and grandchildren to enjoy its pleasures with her. Her genial disposition, her timely counsel, her godly sincerity, won for her in the hearts of her children and her friends and neighbors, a never to be forgotten peace.

In every neighborhood where she has resided she was respected and honored and her home was a mecca where neighbors gathered for counsel to fight the battles of life.

In early life she identified herself with the church, and Christ to her was her personal Savior and her daily life was an evidence of companionship with Him. She was a charter member of the Kingston M. E. church and transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church and was a member in good standing at the time of her death in the Mediapolis Presbyterian church.

The five remaining children were present during the last hours of life. They are: Leslie and Burton of Burlington; Byron of Ft. Madison; Clayton and Mrs. Ruth Freedman (sic) of Mediapolis.

There are also eight grandchildren and a large company of friends to mourn her loss.

The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian church at Mediapolis.
