James Fleming Crews, 84, of Hoboken died Sunday morning (August 14, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System at Waycross following an extended illness.

He was a native and life-long resident of Brantley County, the son of the late Ira J. Crews and Neva Dixon Crews. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Mattie Lou Cohen, Thelma Strickland, Frances Hyers, and Martha Lee Crews, and brothers: Farley Crews, Archie B. Crews, Reppard Crews, and Robert "Elzra" Crews. He was a graduate of Hoboken High School.

He was a long-time farmer and looked forward to his annual Birthday Fish Fry in January where he enjoyed making new memories and reliving a lot of old memories, he also loved watching his cows, feeding his fish, and grafting and raising pecan trees. He was also well-known for his love for talking to people. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and the Grace Group Sunday School Class.

Survivors include the mother of his children: Jean Fullard Crews of Hoboken; three daughters, Darlene Wainright, Debbie Jones, and Vickie Stalvey (Tommy); two sons, David Crews (Cheryl) and Paul Crews (Anita Bell) all of Hoboken; nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Wainright, Ashlee Jones, Matt Jones (Sara), Jamie Tucker (Hank), Colby Strickland (Kristen), Jennifer Crews, Brandon Crews, Dylan Crews, and Brent Crews; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Thomas of Brantley County, a brother, Whitmer Crews (Ermaline) of Hoboken, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2378 Mt. Calvary Road, Hoboken, GA 31542.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday (August 17, 2016) at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Members of the Grace Group Sunday School Class are asked to gather at the church at 10:40 AM Wednesday to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at Music Funeral Home.
