Florence V. Yordy, 91, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 324 Walnut St., Waynesboro, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in the home. She was in failing health since entering the home April 6, 1990, and was critically ill the past two weeks.
Born July 7, 1900, in Mont Alto, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mollie (Dull) Bumbaugh. She and her husband, Harold E. Yordy, were married Jan. 17, 1925. He died Feb. 19, 1987. Prior to entering the home, Mrs. Yordy had lived at the Walnut Street residence for 20 years. In her early life, she was employed as a salesperson at the John Geiser Clothing Store and later at Leiter's Clothing Store (now Routzahn's), both of Waynesboro. She retired in 1962. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro. She also was a member of the Joe Stickell American Legion Post No. 15 Auxiliary of Waynesboro and the national AARP. She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia M. Yordy of Waynesboro. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Grove Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don R. Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
