In 1832 Benjamin married the 'rich' widow Cynthia Riley Prewitt Everett who inherited the Everett property when her husband William died. The land title was granted on 12 May 1831. She also had a plot in town (Cinderella Prewitt) next to her father's place.

In 1836 he and his older brother Reason Green served in the Texas Revolution with Sam Houston in the Battle of San Jacinto. SOURCE: Green/Prewitt database.

He settled down on the ranch and farmed. By 1860 him and young Beasley Prewitt sold their slaves; Benjamin had 12, and Beasley Jr. had 8 at the time. In 1880 he still had servants, but they were now paid and stayed with him until his death in 1895.

Gravesite Details

Military service: Signed up with older brother Reason for the War for Texas Independence in 1836 with Gen. Sam Houston's army. Fought at the Battle of San Jacinto that finally won the war.
