He served our country in the US Army Air Corp from 1944 to 1945 and the US Army Corp of Engineers, at Oakridge, Tennessee from 1945 to 1946. Dwight started working for Union Carbide Corporation in 1946, in South Charleston, W.Va. and retired in 1984 in Seadrift, Tx. as the Department Head of the Distribution Department.
He was very active in the community, volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Silver Beaver Award in 1972 and supporting his 3 sons to receive their Eagle Scout awards. Dwight also served as judge for several Science Fairs and was a mentor for Math Counts in Victoria and Calhoun Counties after his retirement.
He was a devout Christian attending Grace Presbyterian Church regularly and singing in the church choir, also serving as treasurer and on the Session of Grace Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by Sophia, his wife of 66 years, his sister, Charlotte Taylor (Morgantown, W.Va.), three sons, Stevens Ralston and wife Susan, Dwight Mayo and wife Debra, Michael Paul and wife Gloria; four Grandchildren, Sean and Samantha Heath, Valeria Bongard and husband Zach, Sarah Wiest and husband Al , and three great-grandchildren, Eli, Lucas and Arianna Bongard .
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mayo Seevers Heath, and one grandson Joshua Daniel-Walters.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Victoria at 11:00 am Thursday, June 16, 2011, with inurnment at Grace Presbyterian Church's Columbarium.
