BROOKS, Verna L. Age 90 of Middletown, Ohio passed away Monday, January 2, 2006 at Kensington Place. She was born July 14, 1915 in Morgan County, KY to Ruben and Ora (Cox) Brooks. Verna was a cook and waitress for 10 years at the Blue Bonnet retiring in 1966. She loved to sing and play the banjo and also wrote songs. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; brothers, Vernal, Fenzel and Mitchell Brooks; sisters, Ruby Tolliver and Sylvia Haney; Verna is survived by her sister-in-law, Hattie Brooks of Middletown, OH; brother-in-law, Orlan Tolliver of Middletown, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2006 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home with services following at 2:00 pm with Minister James Kinser officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hills Cemetery. Baker Stevens Funeral Home is serving the family. - Published in Journal-News on Jan. 4, 2006.
