KNOX PHYSICIAN DIES.

Dr. Stephen I. Brown Succumbs to Bright's Disease at His Home.

KNOX, Ind., Oct. 6. -- Dr. Stephen I. Brown, well known physician died at his home here last night at 7:15 o'clock from Bright's disease. He had been surgeon general of the G. A. R. in both state and national encampments. He was the youngest of four brothers to serve in the civil war enlisting when he was 16 years old in company H, 46th Indiana volunteers. He was a graduate of Wabash college and of the medical college at Indianapolis and had practiced medicine here for 50 years.

He was born in Pulaski county, Indiana, June 17, 1848, and was 77 years of age. He is survived by his wife, who he married in June, 1873, and the following daughters, Mrs. Glenn Shaffer, Belleville, O.; Mrs. Arthur Brewer, Cleveland, O.; Mrs. William A. Davis, and Mrs. Charles Larrew, both of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs. Henry L. Schricker, Knox; and two brothers, Edmund B. Brown, Winamac, Ind., and Samuel Brown, Pulaski, Ind. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Charles H. Leeson, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park cemetery. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.
