Lisbon - On Saturday, August 6, 2016, Merry Clara Toot, age 90, peacefully passed away at the home of her son, Dave, surrounded by her loving family.
Merry was born in Gavers, Ohio on Oct. 10, 1925, the daughter of Wallace and Clara (Beacom) Patterson. She graduated from Lisbon's David Anderson High School and was a lifelong resident of Lisbon until the death of her husband, Ralph, in May of 1983 when she moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. For the next 20 years she worked for The Council on Aging and attended the local Presbyterian Church. After retiring, she returned to Lisbon to be closer to her children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Since returning, Merry has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lisbon.
Besides her husband, Merry was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherri Lynn Toot, in April 2016; sisters, Marjorie Gardner and Evelyn Patterson.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Annie) Toot, Dave (Julie) Toot and Tim (Cindy) Toot, all of Lisbon; grandchildren, Shawn (Heidi) Toot, Josh (Jamie) Toot, Heather (Wally) Wickline, Amy (Reuben) Dowd, Dave (Heather) Toot, Tim (Lindsey) Toot, Tricia Toot, Travis Toot, Tyler Toot, Tiffany Toot, Tara (Shaun) Young, Emily (Ryan) Kellison; 18 great grandchildren and nephew, Mark (Deneen) Gardner.
The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church, 114 E Washington St, Lisbon, OH 44432 on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at Noon with the Reverend Tina Gallagher officiating. Immediately following the service, Merry will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ralph, in the Lisbon Cemetery. After the Prayers of Committal, friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the church.
