Henry was the son of Heinrich Licht and Barbara Landis. He married Magdalena Wenger Funck. Henry served in Captain Mathias Henning's Company during the Revolutionary War (1782). This company was formed from men ages 18-53 of Bethel Township, Lancaster County in 1780.

Contributor Ed Gahres (49798630) states that this was the 8th Company of the 2nd Battalion, Lancaster County. Cpt. Henning was from East Hanover Township, Dauphin County. Henry Light was living in Bethel Township, Lancaster County (renamed Lebanon County in 1813). Swatara Twp was formed in 1813.
