In 1855 Lafayette was a resident of Glenwood, Iowa and was elected to the Nebraska Terr. Council for Cass Cty, Nebraska
He along with brother Stephen promoted and sold RE in Cass Cty and Plattsmouth Neb.
He was gunned down in Calhoun Texas 2/26/1860 supposedly for stealing horses.
Since he probably had money on him from past transactions so this may not have been the real reason for his killing.
