He was born on May 9, 1923 in West Virginia and was the son of the late Isaac and Minnie Belcher. James was a WWII Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Belcher, 7 children, James L. (Stella) Belcher; Nancy (Jamie) Shirey; Martha (Robert) Jones; Mary Sue (Joe) Neistroy; Frank (Rose) Belcher; Sandra (Mike) Workman and Paul (Judy) Belcher, along with 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a sister Bonnie (Don) Matthews.
James was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 2 brothers, 3 great-grandchildren, Cindy Belcher; Ryan Shirey and Marissa Berry.
Friends may call on Monday from 5-8pm at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10am with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30pm in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Coalton, Ohio.
