Wendy Burleson, 56, passed away Monday August 1, 2016 in her home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 12, 1960 in Houston, Texas to Earlene Stephens and the late David "Boompaw" Pittman.

She was a loving mother, devoted wife, daughter, aunt, sister and {what she loved most of all} GiGi to her grandbabies. She was a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She had a huge heart for people and a passion for animals, which is very apparent by her backyard flower bed used to shelter her 20+ turtles. She adored her fur babies Bender, Boulder and Sachi.

Wendy was an avid painter, gardener, lover of crafts and an anime enthusiast. She was "Mama Wendy", “Windo” and "Winnie" to all the misfits her kids brought home, allowing them all to raid her glorious pantry. Above all Wendy carried an unbreakable faith in the midst of her battle. From the moment she was diagnosed she used what time she had left to witness to everyone she came in contact with. She wanted her life to be a testimony to lead others to Christ. She faithfully fought for her life with everything she had, confounding Doctors and Medical professionals at every turn. She was loved by so many and will be missed every day.

Wendy was united in heaven with her husband of 33 years, Brent Burleson and her father David Pittman.

She is survived by her daughter Courtney Burleson-Fussell and husband Shawn, son Jason Brown and wife Martha, granddaughter Kennedy Beva Brown and grandson William Hayden Darwin, mother Earlene Stephens and stepfather Bobby Stephens, sister Stephanie Ann Bailey and husband Richard, baby sister Stacey McDaniel, nephews Blake Allen McDaniel, Hudson Burleson and Heath Burleson, niece Jennifer Barrett, mother-in-law Suzie Burleson-Thornton, father-in-law Jim Thornton, brother-in-law Terry Don Burleson and wife Terri Ann, sister-in-law Lorrie Hummel, brother-in-law Dr. Stacey Thornton and wife Amy and all of the unofficially adopted sons and daughters she lovingly welcomed into her home.

Funeral services for will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the chapel at Victory Life Church in Sherman, Texas followed immediately by the burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.

Services under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home, Colbert, Oklahoma.
