Jerry was born August 24, 1922 to J. Wesley and Cecil Cooper. He began his life in Oakley, Idaho. He fell in the middle of nine siblings.
Jerry joined the C.C.C. at the young age of 13. He wanted to “see the world,” so he joined the Navy at age 17. After spending six years in the Navy, he married Joan Osward. They became the parents of Gayle, Dean and Leigh. In 1960, this marriage ended in divorce.
Jerry then married Miriam Gerken. They were married for 53 years in a loving relationship until her passing in February of 2015.
Jerry’s career and interests were many. He was a mechanic, contractor, miner, horse owner and trainer. He and his friends loved horse racing. He’s leaving many friends he met in these endeavors.
Jerry’s last four years were spent at the Meadows Assisted Living facility in Salmon, Idaho. The family would like to thank his loving caregivers for all of their help and compassion over the last several years.
Surviving Jerry are his four siblings, Katherine, Bill, Max and Larry; his remaining children, Gayle and Dean. He will be missed by many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
His wishes will be honored by having no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones & Casey Funeral Home. www.jonesandcaseyfh.com
