He married Jean Ann Rose on May 23, 1959 at the Erie Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. A follower of Christ, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord by being heavily involved in building projects and sign painting at the King’s Camp, Chana, IL, and the Newton Zion Reformed Church, rural Erie. He was an avid camper and loved spending time with family and friends at the Kings Camp. Mostly, he was a beloved husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Newton Zion Reformed Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. James served on the board at his church, the Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison and the King’s Camp Board.
