Beldon Thomas, age 96, formerly of Buchanan County, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Grace Healthcare of Abingdon.

He was born June 27, 1920 in Buchanan, Va., a son of the late James Albert and Nancy Deel Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired coal miner. He was a member of Grundy Church of Christ and attended Blountville Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carma Sutherland Thomas and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy Lynn Calhoun and husband Kermit; son, Eddie Gilmer Thomas and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Carma E. Thomas, Tiffany Williamson, Eddie G. Thomas Jr., and Heath Calhoun; great grandchildren, Taylor Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Landon and Keria Thomas, Mason, Brystal, and Bailee Calhoun; sister, Raye Mitrorick; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with son-in-law, Kermit Calhoun officiating assisted by Dwight Shaffer. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors will be conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard.
