George Lyddon, son of John and Hanna Lyddon, was born in Warren county, Illinois, February 21, 1849, and died at his home southwest of Clearfield, Iowa, March 15, 1935, aged 86 years, 1 month and 13 days.
On November 9th, 1874 he was married to Jennie Bicknell. To this union were given seven children, Delbert Eugene, Maude Gertrude, Lee Ellsworth, and Iva Pearl; and three that died in infancy.
After his marriage, he lived for four years near Alexis, Illinois and then moved to Iowa. They lived for one year ½ mile south of Clearfield on the county line and then moved to the present home, were he has lived for 55 years. He was the last of a family of three sisters and six brothers.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife who has stood by his side for sixty years, two daughters, two sons, two grand-daughters Helen and Hilda Lyddon, and three grandsons. Ralph, Richard, and Dean, whom he cherished very dearly. Also many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home at 2:00 on Sunday, conducted by Rev. Philip Nystrand, assisted by Rev. J. C. Turner. Music was by Mrs. Will Williams, Joe Barrans, J. R. Crew and Don Green. The pallbearers were six nephews: Ned, Harry, John and Orville Lyddon, George and Chas. Cheese. The interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.

Mr. Lyddon was the last of a family of three sisters and six brothers. He leaves to mourn his death his faithful wife, who has stood by his side for sixty years, his two sons, two daughters and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Lyddon will be missed in the community who has known him for so long as well as by his immediate family.
Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. Phillip Nystrand, pastor of the Christian church, officiating, assisted by Rev. J. C. Turner, pastor of the Methodist church. Singing was by a quartette composed of J. Ralph Crew, Mrs. Opal Williams of Des Moines, Mrs. J. D. Barrans and Donald Green, and pall bearers were nephews of the deceased—Harry Lyddon of Benton, Ned Lyddon of Clearfield, Orville Lyddon of Menlo, la., John Lyddon of Dexter, la., George and Charley Cheese of Lenox. Interment in Clearfield cemetery.
