Bethel, April 1, 1882 Mrs. Phebe Kimball died in Bethel, Thursday morning March 30th, at the advanced age of 91 years, 10 months. Phebe Chadbourne was born in Gorham, Maine, June 14th, 1790. In early life she moved with her father Dea. James Chadbourne to Harrison, and in 1811 was united in marriage with Aaron Kimball of Bridgton, who died in 1830, leaving her widow and six children, two of whom she has buried, and four survive her - Lyman N. Kimball of Portland; Mrs. J. S. Powers, of Fryburg; Mrs. E. W. Woodbury of Bethel; and Mrs. Samuel Vance, of Jersey City, N. J. Mrs. Kimball, early in life, united with the congregationalist church in North Bridgton, and although not possessed of an abundance of this world's goods, yet her heart was open to the cry of the distressed, and her hands ready to minister to their wants. Her life was truly one of Christian work and for the past 3 years being laid aside from labor by a stroke of paralysis, while visiting her son in Portland, she has had everything done for her which loving hearts could suggest and willing hangs could do. For past two years she has been with her daughter in Bethel, Mrs. E. W. Woodbury, whose constant care and untiring devotion have shown that fillal love, which looks not to earthly treasures for its reward. Saturday, the funeral rites were attended by Rev. S. L. Bowler, at the house of E. W. Woodbury; the congregationalist choir rendered some appropriate music, led by L. T. Barker, children, grand-children and great-grandchildren took the last look at the loving face; lovely even in death, and the earthly remains were deposed in the family burying ground, in Greenwood Cemetery, Bethel by loving hands. "Blessed are the dead, who died in the Lord, Yea, saith the Spirit they do rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
