Martha Marie Accoe was born to Seraphien and Marie (Bracke) Accoe in Sint-Laureins on August 2, 1902. She married James Hoy York in South Bend on November 15, 1924 and they had two sons. In 1964 she and her husband moved to Stuart, Florida where she was a member of the Stuart Alliance Church. They lived in Florida until 1977, afterwards returning to South Bend in the summers. After her husband died, Martha maintained a residence in Stuart until she returned to South Bend permanently. Martha celebrated her 100th birthday on August 2, 2002.

Funeral services were held on December 4, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North with the Rev. Edgar D. Erskin officiating. Cremation followed at Michiana Crematory in South Bend.
