"FORMER LOCAL BOY DIES AT COVINGTON, KY - Dr George P Quinn Served as Lieutenant Commander in Navy During War - WILL BE BURIED HERE - Mrs John F Quinn, 126 East Walnut street, received a long distance message early last evening announcing the death of her older son, Dr George P Quinn, which occurred at 5:50 pm, Wednesday at St Elizabeth hospital in Covington, Ky, where he had been a patient for several weeks. The mother had learned earlier in the day that Dr Quinn was critically ill and she planned to leave today to see him. The surviving brother, John F Quinn, Jr, accompanied Mortician Charles Courtney to Covington to bring the body to Titusville for funeral and interment. They left late last night and expect to return to the city late this evening, after which arrangements will be made for the services. Born in Titusville - George P Quinn was born in Titusville on August 5, 1891, son ot the late John F Quinn and Mrs Mary Quinn. He attended the city schools and prepared for college at Villanova preparatory school. He was graduated from Valparaiso university in Indiana and from the medical school of Chicago university in 1918. Immediately following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States navy and was assigned to duty at the Great Lakes naval station in Chicago. He served there during the influenza epidemic of the fall and winter of 1918-19, after which he was transferred to Quantico, Va, where he served for four years. He was promoted to be lieutenant commander in the US Navy. On August 6, 1923, Dr Quinn was united in marriage with Miss Virginia Crockett of Norfolk, Va, who survives him with two daughters, Kathleen and Jean, besides the mother and brother mentioned, and one sister, Miss Virginia Quinn, a teacher in the Titusville schools. Injured Two Years Ago - While enroute to Titusville from Kentucky to attend the funeral of his father, who died on September 9, 1931, Dr Quinn was injured in an automobile crash, which, together with his heart trouble, broke down his health. He spent three months at the home of his mother in the spring of 1932, and when he returned to Kentucky in May that year, he was apparently on the road to recovery. During the past year, however, he had received treatment in the veterans' hospital in Lexington and his condition had been declining through the summer and fall. He enjoyed a large practice until his health failed and was located on the Dixie Highway just out of Covington. He was a memberof St John's church at Florence, Ky, and a past commander of the American Legion of Erlanger, Ky. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Knights of St John."

"Services in memory of Dr George P Quinn were conducted from St Titus' church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock with a large attendance of friends. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev James F Hopkins, rector, with interment in St Catharine's cemetery, the following ex-service men acting as pall-bearers: W C Jones, Herbert Jones, Warner Sorrell, Raymond Sonne, John Emo and Fred Horner."
