Born on January 26, 1925, son of William Earl Humphries, Sr. and Eunice Wilson Humphries; husband of Frances Johnson Humphries.
Faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 22 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer; also retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by a son, Douglas E. Humphries of Greer; two brothers, Jimmy Humphries, Jerry Humphries both of Spartanburg; two sisters, Kay Alexander of Spartanburg, and Florence Frings of Columbia; and was blessed with two grandsons, Evan William Humphries and Alex Richard Humphries.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard Humphries; three brothers, Robert, Johnny, and Joe Humphries; and a sister, Martha George.
The family received friends 4:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home.
A private funeral service was held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Mobile Meals; 419 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
