Howard Lex Raber was born May 31, 1936 in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Lex and Leona (Baker) Raber.

He went to school in Winterset and met his wife, Donna his senior year. They were married June 7, 1958. After graduation, he served in the Army in Korea. He worked most of his life on the farm and running a dozer for the county.

Howard will be remembered for his love of family. It seems that he died of a broken heart when his beloved wife went to the nursing home in January. He was her caretaker for seven years. Howard loved his farm and visiting with his friends, nieces and nephews. He never met a stranger. His positive outlook and love for life had an impact on all he touched.

He loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Richie and Lindsey “Belle” and teaching them about life or sharing his love for the Chicago Cubs.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna; his daughter, Diane of Winterset; his son, Eric (Stephanie) of Earlham; his granddaughter, Lindsey of Earlham; his grandson, Richie of Omaha, NE; his sisters, Geneva of Ankeny and Betty of Winterset; and many nieces and nephews, friends and family.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Earl and Dan; his sisters, Bonnie, Elsie, Frances, Louise, Helen, and Marilyn; and his granddaughter, Nichole.
