Born on April 22, 1932 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late William and Rose Scalone Fleming. Mr. Fleming served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1977. He received the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Small Arms Award, Expert Rifleman Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation. His military service training included Helicopter Pilot Training, Pensacola, FL in 1958 and U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Patuxent River, MD in 1961.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Fleming of California, MD, two daughters, Kathleen Y. Fleming of Alexandria, VA, Kim Talbert of Lubbock, TX, three sons, Kevin Fleming of Lynchburg, VA, Keith Fleming of Oakton, VA, Kenneth Fleming of Bowie, MD and six grandchildren.
