Edward Paul Guettler, 79, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Willow Brook Court at Park Pointe Village.

He was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on August 11, 1936 to the late Vincent George and Lillian Heitkamp Guettler.

Edward was a Mathematics Professor at Winthrop for 23 years, Coach for the Winthrop Men’s and Women’s Cross County Teams, and a Chief College Marshall for Winthrop University.

He was a member of the St. Anne Church, a charter member of the Rock Hill Striders Running Club, a volunteer for the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen, and a member of the Optimist Club.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Alyce Kathryn Terry Guettler; brother, Paul Guettler; and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Langel.

He is survived by his spouse, Mary Lynn Hambuger Gully Guettler; daughters, Terry (Nelson) Seen of Shelby, NC, Donna (Rodger) Taylor and Blair (Edward) Moore, all of Rock Hill; brothers, Gerald Guettler of Bushnell, FL, Bernie Guettler of Rutherford, NC, and Karl Guettler of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters, Pat Shaughnessy of Nanaimo, BC, Dorothy Guettler of Adian, MI, Jeanie Lattner of Fort Pierce, FL, Delores Fortnash and Margaret Wiencek, both of Bushnell, FL, Teresa Mock of Fort Pierce, FL, and Kathleen Coney of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Alyson Marie Moore, O’Connor Edward Moore, Eric Alan Taylor and Jeffrey Edward Taylor, all of Rock Hill, Kathryn Der Seen, David Der Seen, Michael Der Seen and Joseph Der Seen, all of Shelby, NC.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 6:45 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1698 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial following at Forrest Hills Cemetery.
