son of James "Hawks" Sparks and Massy Caroline Wadlington.∼William N. Sparks was the second son of James H. and Massy Wadlington Sparks, born 1838 in Nacogdoches, Texas. His father died from an indian arrow wound in 1838. Without the full date of birth of William and full date of death of his father, we do not know if William was born before or after his father's death.

In October, 1843, his mother married Robert F. Millard making him the step father of William and older brother, James. In 1844, RFM petitions the Nacogdoches Probate Court to make him the guardian of the two minors.

On 18 Dec 1856, he married Martha Elizabeth Cadell and in the 1860 census is shown with her and a two year old son, Newton Sparks and they were living next to his mother, Massy C. Sparks.

The next bit of family history from the Sparks Family Association has William and family, in Erath County, Texas in 1880 with six children. Death and burial records have not been found by the Association, so it is assumed that he died and was buried in Erath County, Texas in the Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
∼Son of: James H. and Massy Wadington Sparks, was born about 1838 in Texas. A descendant says that the intital "N" was for Nobel or Noble. He grew to manhood in Nacogdoches County and was married there on December 18,1856 to Martha Elizabeth Caddel.

When the 1860 census was taken of Nacogdoches County, William and Martha had a two-year old son, Newton Sparks. Living next to them was William's mother, Massy C. Millard. By 1880, however, William and Martha had moved westward to Erath County. They were the parents of six children.
