Iona M. Scheiwe, 90, of Buckley died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E Lincoln, Buckley. There will also be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Iona was born February 26, 1926 in Loda, a daughter of Martin and Mary Himmel Kaufmann. She married Virgil L. Scheiwe October 3, 1944 in Woodworth. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie Cook of Roberts, Gail (Bruce) Krumwiede of Buckley; son, Philip (Angela Young) Scheiwe of rural Cissna Park; daughter-in-law, Linda Scheiwe of Lake Iroquois; four grandchildren, Ross (Shannon) Cook of East Peoria, Kurt (Rachel) Krumwiede of rural Buckley, Ryne (Meghan Davis) Scheiwe of Bourbonnais, Whitney Scheiwe of Champaign; two great grandchildren, Keaton and Kaia Krumwiede; step-great granddaughter, Kaila Klopstein; brother, Jerome (Arlene) Kaufmann of Marble Falls, TX; and brother-in-law, Russell Perkinson of Thawville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mark D. Scheiwe, and brother Dale Kaufmann.

Iona graduated from Buckley High School in 1944. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley and the St. John’s Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Buckley American Legion Auxillary, Byron A. Hickerson Post 432 as well as the Flying Needles Sewing Club. She worked for many years at the University of Illinois, Champaign in Admissions.

For several years, Iona made custom draperies with Lois Teske. She loved watching her family play for the Buckley Dutchmasters and was an avid Cubs fan.
