Casar - James Presley "Jim" Mauney, 81, was born to Peter Marion Mauney, Sr. and Ferol Hord Mauney on May 26, 1935, at home in Shelby and completed his life at Hospice Wendover on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

He graduated from Shelby High School in 1953. After employment in Shelby and Maine, he joined his brothers in forming Mauney Auto Electric in Shelby where he worked until his retirement. For a number of years, he enjoyed square dancing with the Wagon Wheelers, camping, water skiing and travel. Later, he enjoyed watching ACC sports and NASCAR racing.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly sixty years, Frances Chapman Mauney and their son, Michael Mauney and his wife Brenda Hamby Mauney, all of Casar; his sisters, Louise Campbell and Ann Williams both of Shelby; his sisters-in-law, Sue Mauney of Shelby, and Edna Mauney of Winston-Salem; as well as four nephews, nine nieces.
