Imke was born in Groningen, the Netherlands, on August 24, 1924, to Cornelis and Japien Hazelhoff. She moved to the United States in 1962, to Jackson, Mississippi, with her husband, Rudolf, a geodetic engineer, and children, Gerhard, Joyce and Kees. Before, the family had lived in the Netherlands, Indonesia and Curacao. In 1965 the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Next, Imke and her husband moved to Guam, where they lived for five years. While in Guam, she attended the local university to become a certified piano teacher and started teaching piano.
Imke and Rudolf retired in Jackson, Mississippi, where she lived until her husband died in 2002. As a volunteer, she played piano in the Arts Museum and in retirement homes. She was also pianist for the Unitarian Church, where she was a member.
In 2002 she moved to San Antonio to be near her daughter Joyce. She loved San Antonio and made many friends there. She was a member of the Tuesday Music Club, Etude Club and Dutch Club and attended classes at ALIR.
Survivors include children Dr. Gerhard Streuding and Cathy, Joyce Streuding and Eric, Kees Streuding and Karen, grandchildren Hendrik, Elena, Wayne, Eric, Nicole, Evan, and Lecia, and great- grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Unitarian Church of San Antonio. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
