Elizabeth was the daughter of William Cornell, who came from Hempstead, Long Island, New York to Hopewell Twp., old Hunterdon (now Mercer) Co., NJ. She married Francis Blackwell, with whom she had 11 children born from 1738 to 1761. She died before 1779, by which time Francis had remarried.

Note: No reference to the location of her grave has been discovered. It seems likely that she was buried in the Presbyterian Churchyard in Pennington, where her husband was later buried in 1791. However, the Cornell Burying Ground in Pennington is another possibility.
