He was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was a member of a large, highly regarded family, the son of the late Adolphus & Znnnie Burton Estes and the widower of Wanda Akin Estes. He leaves 11 direct living descendants. His family ties were many in Taylor, Adair, and Green Counties.

He departed this life Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, having attained the age of sixty-three years, five months and twenty days. The funeral service will be at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, at 11amCT, Monday, July 25, 2016. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Sunday, July 24, 2016, and after 7amCT, Monday at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, by Bethlehem Baptist Church, 526 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY.
Pallbearers: Jacob Estes, Jerry Rattliff, Roger Neagle, Bryan Estes, Brent Nunn, and Tommy Judd.
