She was the Founder and Superintendent of A+ Arts Academy. Carolyn was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church where she served with the Deaconess Board, Thesbian Guild and Deborah Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents Jake Brown Sr. and Thelma Jean Simpson and daughter Keesha Lemons.
Left to cherish her memory, husband Morris E. Berkley, daughters Kymberly R. (James) Rhodes, Marsha L. Berkley, Te-Onda M. Bumphus, and Krystal N. Berkley, brothers Charles Simpson, Brian Simpson, and Jake Brown Jr., sister Constance Simpson, 8 grandchildren, Godmother Janie Hagwood, Goddaughter Ashley Suber, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted children and friends.
